Academic Associate of Science in Magnetic Resonance Imaging

In WCUI’s Academic Associate of Science in Magnetic Resonance Imaging program, you will learn how to use the dynamic technology of the MRI scan and help diagnose and monitor the treatment of diseases. MRI technologists serve as the doctor’s eyes by operating scanners that use a strong magnetic field and radio waves to capture detailed images of the organs and tissues within the body. These images help doctors diagnose medical issues such as tumors, aneurysms, strokes and heart attack damage, among other conditions.

The Academic Associate of Science in Magnetic Resonance Imaging program can be completed in as few as 18-21 months*. Graduates of this program can sit for the MRI exams through ARRT and ARMRIT registries upon graduation.

*An optional 18-month program is only available at our California campuses.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

In 18-21 months*, our MRI students will learn:

  • How to operate MRI scanners
  • How to perform MRI pulse sequences to optimize image contrast
  • Identify pathologies seen on MRI scans
  • Demonstrate entry-level clinical knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the care of patients undergoing magnetic resonance imaging procedures
  • A commitment to ethics and professionalism
  • MRI Cross Sectional Anatomy

PREPARE FOR YOUR CAREER IN MRI

Our Academic Associate of Science in Magnetic Resonance Imaging program will prepare you for an entry-level career as an integral part of healthcare organizations. In addition, WCUI has many resources that will help you become eligible for relevant registries upon graduation. To learn more about the registries associated with the Academic Associate of Science in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, see our WCUI Pathway to Registry graphic.*

  • American Registry Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) arrt.org
  • American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) armrit.org

* These registries are independent organizations, and the prerequisites for eligibility can change at any time without WCUI’s knowledge or consent. This document is meant to be a guide only and all students should review the registry’s website for the most up-to-date information.
